I was born one bright, sunny day
In a barn stacked full of hay.
I lifted my head
Right off of my bed
But ‘Boo’ was all I could say.
Boo, Boo, Boo. Boo was all I could say.
Sometimes I went outside and hid.
I couldn’t moo like all my friends did.
As the days rolled by,
I’d practice and try,
But my ‘moo’ just went ‘boo’ instead.
Boo, Boo, Boo. Boo was all I could say.
A Man was walking nearby.
I went up to the fence to say ‘hi.’
“Can you help me to moo?
I’ll be grateful to you.”
And he said to me with a sigh. . ..
“I think I can help you to speak.
I’ll come by every day this week.”
We worked right along
With a smile and a song,
But I couldn’t say ‘moo’ all week.
Boo, Boo, Boo. Boo was all I could say.
Next, I went down by the brook.
I caught a big fish on a hook.
He taught me to swim.
I said, ‘Thank-you’ to him.
I couldn’t learn that from a book!
A bird sat up in his nest.
Maybe he could help me best.
He taught me to tweet,
As I stood on my feet.
But when it came time for my test,
Boo, Boo, Boo. Boo was all I could say.
I was two years old by now.
Can you imagine a ‘Boo’ from a cow?
I always was trying,
Without any crying,
But I just didn’t seem to know how.
I went to a party in June.
We played, The Cow Jumped Over the Moon.
When it was my turn to moo
I only could ‘Boo.’
The laughter was as loud as a tune.
Boo, Boo, Boo. Boo was all I could say.
I ran out of the barn with a tear.
The laughter, I could still hear.
I sat down by a tree.
What’s the matter with me?
Then I heard a sound very near.
I heard voices coming nearby.
I raised my ears and my eyes.
They said, “Get on your saddle.
We’ll round-up these cattle.”
“Yahoo!” Came a very loud cry.
My friends, what would happen to them?
I had to stop these bad men.
I stood up by the tree
And just as loud as can be,
I threw back my head and then. . ..
Booooooooooooo! ! !
Came the frightening sound.
It could be heard for miles around.
The men dropped their ropes.
They lost all their hopes.
And they fell in the mud on the ground.
My friends all came running my way.
I had frightened those rustlers away.
They lifted me high
As I reached for the sky.
Guess what they were all trying to say?
Boo, Boo, Boo. Boo they were trying to say!
I no longer have to say ‘Boo.’
I finally learned how to ‘Moo.’
I practiced you see
And believed hard in me.
That’s something we all have to do.
