About Us

I originated the concepts of StoriesThatLift several years ago.  We began work in earnest in October 2007 to bring the concept to life.  Our intentions are to bring free written and audio short stories to the web in an easily accessible form, with quality content.  We intend the site to offer family oriented material, suitable for all ages.  We have worked to bring material that inspires us to do better, to lift us from the doldrums of life, to help us see the lighter side of our characters – in other words, to lift us. We are trying to make a difference by giving listeners a little lift, one story at a time.

We have begun this venture as a family exercise.  As the owner and originator of the concepts, I have enlisted several family members to assist in various aspects of the website.  I spent a career working in natural resource science, management, and policy – in fact I still engage in that professionally – but, I also have enjoyed telling stories, speaking, writing, and observing others do the same.  I wanted to provide an outlet for new talent as well as provide an easily accessible website for free access to family oriented stories.

My wife, Kerry, helps keep me sane as well as lending a hand in reviewing material, in production work and quality control.  My daughter, Kami, reviews material, works on webpage layout, and lends a hand in production.
